About Elena Dana

Elena Dana is a singer-songwriter, a jazz vocalist, a vocal coach and a founder of Sing Jazz International teaching collective. Bringing the fusion of gypsy and jazz sounds with tongue-in-cheek humour to her original songs and adding the elegant style to the jazz standards somehow making them her own, Elena performs all over the world, sharing her passion and love for music in every place she goes. 

In the UK Elena has been active in songwriting circles since 2007 playing a number of gigs around London in venues such as Union Chapel, Rich Mix, Spice of Life, Charlie Wrights and The Betsy Trotwood, and held a residency at the George & Vulture in Hoxton. The tour included the slots at the Latitude Festival in 2016, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010, the Antifolk Festival in New York in 2008, and local gigs in Goa India, Bonito Brazil, San Francisco & NYC in the USA in 2007-2008 to mention a few. 

Launching her career as a youngster back in Ukraine, where she was born and influenced by the Bulgarian side of her family, Elena competed at many local singing contests similar to the Voice in the UK. Elena has become a laureate of many Ukrainian music festivals after winning her first contest Morning Star, such as Starfall and Chervona Ruta, and has become a regular young performer in demand around the country supported by the local municipality. One of the contest's awards was a referral to the most prestigious Performing Arts school in the country, which Elena got into after challenging audition and attended with pleasure. The PA school has given Elena a great foundation for her future work as a vocalist and a vocal coach and served as a true inspiration to follow her true calling.

In London, Elena took up professional training as a Jazz Vocalist, Music Educator and as an Artist Manager, and was awarded Master of Arts by the City University in 2014. For the last five years Elena was concentrating mainly on coaching and developing her own unique vocal training system while teaching a number of renowned methods, researching the science of voice and putting together a collective of vocal coaches around the world - SJI.
